The largest threats to Cyrodiil are the Oblivion Gates opening up across the land. The game starts out with the world in danger and you're destined to save it. Though the main quest is usually a game's primary draw, that isn't the case here. You can head in any direction you like, playing to beat the story, to complete side quests, or wander around fields, mountains and streams exploring at your own pace. Set in Cyrodiil, a province of the larger land of Tamriel, practically everything is accessible right from the start. Designed to be an open-ended experience, Oblivion's biggest draw is its massive world. Oblivion's four Guilds, Mages, Fighters, Thieves, and Dark Brotherhood all have their own unique questlines and provide opportunity for added perks. As you grow more powerful you'll acquire better weapons, armor and spells to kill monsters and, if it's your preference, innocents. It's an entirely offline role playing game, meaning you'll complete quests, level up and progress through a rich storyline. To briefly sum up, Oblivion has no multiplayer.
Though Oblivion has a few issues, it thankfully avoids any major blunders, making this the best single player role playing experience to come along in years. However, depth means nothing if it's paired with crippling bugs or frustrating gameplay. With over 200 hours of gameplay, Oblivion's depth is nothing short of staggering. It might even start chipping away your daily responsibilities. Just don't expect the gameplay to be close to the single player Elder Scrolls.How much free time do you have? It's a legitimate question if you're considering Bethesda's epic The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, as it's likely to engulf whatever tidbits of unoccupied hours permeate your life. If you are you will find some really cool stories and lore there. Some really cool ideas.Įlder Scrolls Online is an MMO first so you have to be ok with that. They were really varied when it comes to themes and gameplay.
One of the best things in Obllivion were the quests. The level scaling can get annoying in the late game when every bandit wears high level armor but it didn't bother me too much. Visually they may all look the same but level design wise they felt varied and i liked them more than the dwarven ruins in Skyrim. I really liked exploring the Ayleid ruins. Closing the Gates to Oblivion can get a bit samey after doing it a few times but they give good rewards. I know the setting seems to be standard fantasy but it features some of my favorite towns of any Elder Scrolls, with Leyawiin beeing my absolute favorite. Well i would have said Morrowind but since that is too old for you i would next recommend Oblivion.
